Strawberry and Raspberry Plants
MFVGA coordinates group orders of strawberry and raspberry plants for commercial berry producers in Minnesota. Plants ordered through MFVGA are refrigerated during shipment to a central drop point in the Twin Cities area and held in refrigerated storage until scheduled pick up days.
This program is run by Minnesota berry grower volunteers for berry growers in Minnesota and western Wisconsin. Proceeds from the plant sales help support the small fruit breeding program at the University of Minnesota which benefits all of Minnesota's small fruit growers.
Strawberry varieties usually include Allstar, Annapolis, Earliglow, Glooscap, Honeoye, Kent, Northeaster, Sparkle, Brunswick, Cabot, Cavendish, Darselect, Eros, Evangeline, Idea, Jewel, Mesabi, Mira, Sable, Tribute, Tristar and Winona.
Raspberry varieties usually include Autumn Britten, Caroline, Encore, Polana, Prelude, Boyne, Heritage, K-81-6, Killarney, Latham, Nova.
This program is for commercial berry growers and minimum orders do apply. Some plant varieties may not be available or may have limited quantities. More information and an order form will be posted when the information is available. You can also contact the MFVGA office for more information.
Minnesota Grown Bags
MFVGA has coordinated the group order of "Minnesota Grown" bags since 2003. Bags may be purchased by anyone licensed to use the Minnesota Grown logo. These bags have been designed to hold a dozen ears of sweet corn without tearing, but they're not just for produce.
The bags are a heavy 1 mil white plastic t-shirt style bag printed with a dark green "Minnesota Grown" logo that includes the "Fresh From Your Neighbor" tag line. The bags are 23" by 7" by 12". Bags must be ordered in increments of 1,000.
Bags can be customized to include a farm name, market name, etc. The minimum quantity for customized bags is 5,000 bags. Bags can be drop-shipped directly from the manufacturer for an additional charge, or bags can be picked up at a central location in the Twin Cities area.
Additional information and order forms will be sent to producers who have ordered bags in the past or have expressed interest in the bags. Samples of the bags and order forms will be available at the Upper Midwest Regional Fruit and Vegetable Growers Conference and Trade Show.
To receive a sample bag, or to be put on the mailing list for the order form, contact the MFVGA office at 763-434-0400.
You must be licensed to use the Minnesota Grown logo to order the bags. A link to the Minnesota grown website is included on the "Links" page.
